Orbis develops and distributes standard middleware software including SMIP21 for process to LIMS data integration for the Aspentech and Thermo Informatics suites and SampleManager-Millennium/Empower for LIMS to CDS integration for the Waters and Thermo Informatic suites.
Orbis has also developed an Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligent (EMI) solution that helps Food and Beverage industries comply with current regulation on Food Traceability.
Orbis is based in Dublin, Ireland and is accredited to the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
Management
Michael Gannon
Orbis' founder and Managing Director, Michael Gannon, has lead Orbis from startup to become a leading solutions provider for manufacturing intelligence and laboratory informatics with a strong and loyal client base. Michael has twenty years experience in systems engineering and integration, and has been involved in over fifty successful laboratory informatics implementations in Ireland, Britain, Germany and the U.S. He has also overseen the development and successful certification of the Orbis Quality Management System to ISO 9001:2008. Michael is a frequent speaker at industry and partner conferences, and has written a number of papers on laboratory informatics.
John Tobin
John Tobin is a co-founder of Orbis Information Systems and currently serves as MES Division Manager. He has over 20 years experience in process control and automation. He has driven the acquisition and development of Orbis' key clients, including Diageo and Pilsner. An acknowledged expert in the application of MES technologies in regulated industries, John regularly presents industry papers and provides consulting on MES strategies and implementation.
Loretta Smyth
Loretta Smyth has been with Orbis since its foundation and has over 20 years experience in Office Management and H.R. in the Middle East and Ireland. Loretta manages both of these functions in Orbis.
Orbis prides itself on its highly qualified staff because it is essential to the successful delivery of our solutions to our customers. Loretta is responsible for staff recruitment and has introduced a comprehensive HR Development program.
Loretta has also established our general administration practices and she ensures that our commercial interactions with customers and suppliers comply with the company quality standard.
MES
Orbis MES is dedicated to the pursuit of Operational Excellence in the Food and Beverage and Pharmaceutical Industries.
We help process manufacturing companies to achieve operational excellence by bridging the systems gap between ERP and Process Automation systems with MES solutions that span the value chain connecting Profit and Loss to Operations.
Our solutions enable operating personnel to visualise and analyse production operations from a business perspective and translate business decisions into specific actions.
By integrating and synchronising the Business and Process Control layers our MES solutions deliver improved productivity, quality and compliance.
Orbis builds and delivers MES solutions using a unique continuous improvement methodology called CORE and MES technology from our strategic partner AspenTech.
The MES team of consultants, process engineers, information technologists and industry experts has over 100 years of combined experience working within the Food and Beverages and Pharmaceuticals sector.
LAB
Orbis LAB delivers integrated Laboratory Information Systems that advance laboratory automation and support compliance. We have been offering our LAB informatics solution to Irish and international markets for over 15 years.
Established to support customers in compliance to ISO9000 in processing industries, Orbis has evolved to cover a range of industries including Pharma QA/QC, Food & Beverage, Agriculture, Environment and Biotechnology. Our client base includes the Irish Department of Agriculture and Food, Abbott, Elan, BMS, Helsinn Birex, Teagasc and Servier.
We believe that integration provides that extra dimension of productivity and compliance and is a core component of the delivery. The focus of Orbis LAB is on understanding its customer business. Our industry knowledge and methodologies for analysis, design and implementation, combined with our total commitment to success in each project, underpin the success of our solutions and ensure that our customers' changing business needs can always be met.
